{"id":7683,"date":"2010-02-13T15:45:43","date_gmt":"2010-02-13T20:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/?p=7683"},"modified":"2022-05-08T22:40:54","modified_gmt":"2022-05-09T02:40:54","slug":"thrive-adzuki-pizza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/thrive-adzuki-pizza\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Thrive &#039;pizza&#039; yet!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve stayed away from fake meat products for a while now, so it&#8217;s been a long time since I&#8217;ve had any food in quotes.&nbsp; The &#8220;pizzas&#8221; in&nbsp;&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=nomeaath-20&amp;o=1&amp;p=8&amp;l=as1&amp;asins=0738212547&amp;fc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;lt1=_blank&amp;m=amazon&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;bc1=000000&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;f=ifr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thrive<\/a><\/em>, however, are a different kind of quoted food, since they&#8217;re not masquerading as real pizzas.&nbsp; &#8220;Pizza&#8221; just happens to be the most convenient way to describe a food made up of a crust, sauce, and topping.&nbsp; Other than that, they&#8217;re nothing like traditional pizzas, and a hell of a lot healthier.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, I made my favorite one yet: adzuki bean quinoa sesame pizza, using sprouted adzukis, my latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/how-to-sprout-beans-seeds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sprouting jar baby<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31498 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sprouted-adzuki-beans-photo.jpg\" alt=\"Sprouted adzuki beans\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sprouted-adzuki-beans-photo.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sprouted-adzuki-beans-photo-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sprouted-adzuki-beans-photo-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sprouted-adzuki-beans-photo-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sprouted-adzuki-beans-photo-500x375.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Granted, I bastardized it a little bit, nutritionally: During Snowmageddon II, I had made a huge batch of Mario Batali&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/mario-batali\/basic-tomato-sauce-recipe12\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">basic tomato sauce<\/a>, so I used that for the sauce instead of one of the raw sauces from <em>Thrive<\/em>. Still, nothing bad in it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here&#8217;s the recipe from&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=nomeaath-20&amp;o=1&amp;p=8&amp;l=as1&amp;asins=0738212547&amp;fc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;lt1=_blank&amp;m=amazon&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;bc1=000000&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;f=ifr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thrive<\/a><\/em>, printed, as usual, with permission.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Adzuki Bean Quinoa Sesame Pizza<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ingredients for the crust:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1 cup cooked or sprouted adzuki beans<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1 cup cooked or sprouted quinoa<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup ground sesame seeds<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/4 cup coconut oil, hemp oil, or EFA oil blend<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">2 tbsp dulse flakes<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ingredients for the topping:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1 cucumber, sliced<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 onion, diced<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">4 strips dulse<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1 cup bean sprouts<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup chopped fresh basil<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">1\/2 cup chopped green onions<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sauce:&nbsp; (See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/raw-zucchini-pasta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spicy Sun-Dried Tomato Marinara Sauce<\/a> recipe)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In a food processor, process all the crust ingredients until mixture starts to ball up.&nbsp; Lightly oil the baking tray with coconut oil.&nbsp; Spread mixture on tray to about 1\/4 inch thick (it can be&nbsp;thicker or thinner if you prefer).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Spread Spicy Sun-Dried Tomato Marinara Sauce on crust; add topping.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bake for 45 minutes. This might not sound terribly appetizing, but Erin and I both loved this &#8220;pizza&#8221;!&nbsp; I kicked mine up a notch with some crushed red pepper and hot sauce.&nbsp; Bam?<\/p>\n<h2>Coffee-quitting update<\/h2>\n<p>After two and a half weeks, my randomized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/quit-coffee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plan to quit coffee<\/a> is still working!&nbsp; Just as outlined in the plan, I&#8217;m now drinking 1\/5 the amount of caffeinated coffee I was before I started.&nbsp; I didn&#8217;t really make plans for where to go from here.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&#8217;m thinking I&#8217;ll stick with 1\/5 caffeinated as the mean, still randomizing individual days, but start mixing in some intentional no-caffeine days where I drink herbal tea or something.<\/p>\n<p>I did almost have a slip up: On Wednesday, I had reached the end of my portions of 2\/5 caffeinated coffee (on average), and I got the idea in my head that it might be okay to have a cup of full-on high-octane java.&nbsp; I pitched the idea to Erin, citing &#8220;snow day&#8221; as the special occasion to break the rules.&nbsp; But she threatened to tell everyone on the blog, and made me up the randomized 1\/5 caffeine portions.&nbsp; I drank one, and afterward I was so glad I didn&#8217;t cheat on the plan.&nbsp; I felt just enough of&nbsp;a coffee buzz, and under normal circumstances that&#8217;s where I&#8217;d crave more, drink it, and feel crappy and anxious&nbsp;the rest of the day.&nbsp;
