{"id":4507,"date":"2009-08-18T12:08:27","date_gmt":"2009-08-18T16:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/?p=4507"},"modified":"2021-02-11T13:34:30","modified_gmt":"2021-02-11T18:34:30","slug":"thrive-sports-drink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/thrive-sports-drink\/","title":{"rendered":"Natural Sports Drink from Thrive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whew!&nbsp; I just got back from my 20-miler this morning, that which was postponed due to my feeling like crap when I woke up yesterday.&nbsp; All better today though!<\/p>\n<p>I did it in 2:38:54, a 7:56 minute-per-mile pace.&nbsp; This is a little slower than the 7:45 I was shooting for.&nbsp; My temptation is to list a million excuses about why it was slow, but I&#8217;m resisting the urge and just leaving it at that.&nbsp; <em>No excuses<\/em>.&nbsp; Hopefully I&#8217;ll be faster next time.<\/p>\n<p>I brought along a <em>Thrive<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/thrive-energy-gel-recipe\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">raw energy gel<\/a>, which worked well again, and a lemon-lime <em>Thrive<\/em> sports drink as well.&nbsp; I&#8217;m really starting to love making my own sports drinks and gels.&nbsp; <strong>If I don&#8217;t eat processed food normally, then why would I eat it when I&#8217;m running? <\/strong> Since my <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/books\/\">Thrive<\/a> <\/em>30-Day Challenge is over and I don&#8217;t want to abuse the privilege of posting recipes that Brendan has so nicely granted me, I&#8217;m going to make this the last one I share on the blog for a while.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ftjcfx.com\/image-3561699-10692202\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\"> Smoothies, sports drinks, energy puddings, energy gels, recovery drinks, vegan pizzas, energy pancakes, crackers and dips, salads, desserts&#8230; all vegan, high-raw, and energy-dense.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, here you go.<\/p>\n<h3><em>Thrive<\/em> Homemade Sports Drink Recipe (raw)<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Juice of 1\/2 lemon<\/li>\n<li>Juice of 1\/4 lime<\/li>\n<li>3 dates<\/li>\n<li>2 cups water<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp agave nectar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp coconut oil<\/li>\n<li>sea salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Combine all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.&nbsp; This makes about 16 ounces, so I usually make a double recipe to fill up my Nalgene bottle.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Alright, I&#8217;m out!&nbsp; You&#8217;ll get a double-serving of me tomorrow, since I&#8217;ll be guest-posting on another blog as well.<\/p>\n<p>For more posts (and recipes) on natural sports nutrition, check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomeatathlete.com\/post-workout-recovery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Running Fuel<\/a> page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whew!&nbsp; I just got back from my 20-miler this morning, that which was postponed due to my feeling like crap when I woke up yesterday.&nbsp; All better today though!
