Green tea contains L-theanine which I have read counteracts caffeine in some respect. Yerba mate has a different ratio of xanthines than coffee. All 3 are completely difference species of plants, and contain other chemicals that are characteristic of that plant. Its not just caffeine, its how the other chemicals come into play. Do you not experience slightly different effects from hoppy beer, vs non bitter beer, vs various wines, vs liquor for example? I tend to think coffee is overall healthy, and lately, so does The Harvard School of Public Health. I can go on and on…Literally…Please feel free to share you opinions and ask for more of mine.
Side note: Judge coffee and how it effects you from quality sources, not Starbucks or Folgers, and I swear by non-filtered ie Frenchpressed. Yerba Mate is far and away my favorite and I consume it 95% of days.
